I learned that I want to be more mindful about how I use technology. I have struggled with using technology too much (as most people have) and I want to take back more control of my life. I wasn’t looking forward to the actual Bored and Brilliant challenge, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I definitely appreciated the one where you sit and observe your surroundings, as well as fasting from your phone for a period of time.
I have put my phone away for a period of time in the past, and definitely need to do it more often. I felt a lot more able to be present in the moment and to not be constantly distracted by my phone. I found it hard to do some of the challenges (namely fasting from my phone) because of my activities that day. It feels like my phone is too integrated in my life to be able to just put it down for a period of time. I think that some of the challenges are things that I want to incorporate into my daily life more often. They helped reduce my anxiety and stress, I think. I want to regularly fast from my phone/social media, and I want to use both my phone and social media more mindfully by having app timers, deleting apps, etc.
